Unfortunately Tom Hoge couldn’t get recapture his Sunday performance from the Farmers Insurance Open, falling one shot short of a Top 20 payout. Another week with multiple courses being used, Pebble Beach, Spy Glass Hill, and Monterey Peninsula all play under 7,000 yards with low scores being the order of the day. There is however one stat that stands out above all others this week, and that is putting average, with previous 4 winners ranked 6th, 16th, 3rd, and 4th for the week.

A guy I’ve had my eye on in recent weeks, but yet to pull the trigger, and whilst his ball striking isn’t great he’s always been able to rely on his putter, currently ranked 13th in strokes gained putting, and 4th in total putting. He’s also coming off back to back Top 20 finishes, whilst finishing 8th here in 2018.

You will notice the theme of the week here; Hubbard is another guy who’s extremely solid on the greens, ranking 22nd in total putting, and 38th in strokes gained putting. He’s never been the most consistent golfer, but has had some nice finishes this season, with a 2nd at the Houston Open, 10th at the Greenbrier, 13th at the Safeway Open, and 9th last week.
