Waste Management Phoenix Open

brendan-steele-rocket-mortgage-2019On Super Bowl weekend, the Waste Management Phoenix Open plays host to the most NFL like crowd in the golfing world, with the 16th at TPC Scottsdale allowing over 20,000 raucous fans to disobey golfs golden rule, and break the sound of silence. Compared to the monster yardage at Torrey Pines last weekend, TPC Scottsdale drops down to a mere 7,266 yards. Looking over the statistics since 2013 it’s been a combination of long driving (accuracy not so important), and approach play, that have seen the likes of Koepka, Fowler, Woodland, and Matsuyama go on to victory.

Like last week, Top 10/20 odds will be confirmed tomorrow.

Ryan Moore – Stake 0.80% (0.40% each-way) or £40 (£20 each-way)

He hasn’t played a great deal of competitive golf over the past few months, but did have a 6th place finish at the American Express a few weeks ago. He’s always been one of the most consistent putters on tour, and so far this season he has managed to add a few yards off the tee. Having finished inside the Top 20 on 5 occasions at this event, he clearly knows his way around.

Tom Hoge – Stake 0.80% (0.40% each-way) or £40 (£20 each-way)

After last week’s superb performance I surprised to see odds at 100/1 on a guy who is in terrific form. He more than held his own in a final round with Tiger Woods, and should draw massive confidence in that, as he goes for his maiden tour victory.

Adam Hadwin – Stake 0.40% (0.20% each-way) or £20 (£10 each-way)

Much like Moore, Hadwin has barely played since his president’s cup appearance. He did however; start the season off well, with a 2nd place finish at the Safeway Open, and a 4th place finish at the Shriners. Statistically his approach play has always been inside the top 20/30 on tour.

Each-Way Winner @ 125/1 with Several

Top 10 @ 10/1 with Will Hill

Top 20 @ 7/2 with Several

Brendan Steele – Stake 0.60% (0.30% each-way) or £30 (£15 each-way)

Very much a horses for courses selection, with Steele registering 4 finishes inside the top 10 at this event, in his last 8 starts. He also played extremely well at the Sony Open, where he finished in solo 2nd.
