GTY 697043648 S SPO GLF MAJ USG USA WISo, just how close were we to landing huge back to back winners?! Cameron Champ nailed his birdie putt on the 18th to claim victory over our 80/1 shot Adam Hadwin. That being said, it was still a cracking weekend with Hadwin claiming full each-way money, so odds of 16/1, plus a Top 10 payout at 8/1, and Top 20 at 10/3, which pushes profit for August/September to over £2,700 (to advised stakes) and over £3,300 (to level stakes). Now why do I say all of this? Well, being blunt, it’s because I would expect some sort of drawdown over the next month or so. Not saying it will happen, and I’ll certainly try my best to ensure that it doesn’t, but a Return on Investment of 168% is very difficult to maintain.

Getting back to the actual golf selections, this week we head to the bright lights of the city which never sleeps, Las Vegas, Nevada, with TPC Summerlin playing host. Another birdie fest of a course, with previous winners registering scores of 21, 20, 16, 20, and 24 under in recent years. Looking at the stats from the past few seasons, it would appear that driving distance and accuracy is largely irrelevant, with GIR and putting average playing more of a pivotal role in deciding the winner.

Zach Johnson – Stake 0.80% (0.40% each-way) or £40 (£20 each-way)

It’s been a hard year or so for the former major champ, having to fight for his PGA playing privileges, that you would have said a couple of seasons ago would never happen, given just how solid his short game and putting were for over a decade. A change of clubs seems to be the root of the problem; however, he put together some nice rounds at the Sanderson Farms, and will be playing a course this week which suits his strengths.

Brain Harman – Stake 0.80% (0.40% each-way) or £40 (£20 each-way)

Much like the Hadwin selection last weekend, Harman is a guy that is vastly underrated by the bookies. Consider that he has won twice on tour and has a spate of top 5 finishes. He’s consistently been one of the better putters on tour, and will enjoy playing a course in which his lack of distance of the tee shouldn’t hinder him too much.
