WGC HSBC Champions

Matt-Wallace-1046016After a slow start to the season for the big names of the golfing world, the WGC HSBC Champions arrives as the first big tournament in this new wraparound season. Again we stay in Asia, with Sheshan Golf Club hosting for 13 of the last 14 years. The event has been won by a fairly eclectic group of golfers, and no stat stands out above another other in the history of the event.

Tyrell Hatton – Stake 0.80% (0.40% each-way) or £40 (£20 each-way)

Hatton performed admirably when we backed him a few weeks back, with his normally solid putting stroke letting him down. As I mentioned then, I think he is in line to win a big event very soon.

Billy Horschel – Stake 0.80% (0.40% each-way) or £40 (£20 each-way)

A guy who often gets over looked, he had a great season in 2018, but was unable to land a victory, despite two 2nd and two 3rd place finishes. With a 6th place finish last week at the ZOZO Championship, his swing looked in fine form.  I would like to have seen slightly bigger odds, but 40/1 is still acceptable.

Matt Wallace – Stake 0.80% (0.40% each-way) or £40 (£20 each-way)

Wallace isn’t very well known across the pond, despite his 3rd place finish at the PGA Championship, however anyone who watches the European Tour regularly will know just how talented this guy is. He ranks highly in every major category apart from driving accuracy, which shouldn’t be too much of an issue this weekend.
